Sadly, Oktoberfest is past, but it's Harvest time; another great excuse to drink local. Come by to taste some of the new York State wines that we're pouring and matching to those warm, savory flavors of our new fall menu. Ask me, I'd love to sample you on a few.
CHENIN BLANC Paumanok Vineyards ’06 – (No. Fork, Long Island) – Wonderfully aromatic and rich; great acidity. The New York Times, Eric Asimov, recently heaped a lot of praise on this very limitedly available bottle – You can buy this, & other New Yorkers, at Bridge Vineyards Urban Winery: Broadway & Kent Ave.!
CHARDONNAY Brooklyn Oenology – ( Long Island) - Medium-bodied, creamy, balanced, loaded w/ fresh, crisp apple fruit flavors.
BACK STORY: This Greenpoint-based winemaker studied & sold N. Y. wines for years, then used her contacts for access to select grapes from Long Island. She blends & bottles in a rented warehouse space & hires Brooklyn artists for the labels!
PECONIC BAY WINERY CABERNET FRANC, North Fork, Long Island. Can their be a more satisfying red to sip or marry to this season's dishes, than this? Some may know this varietal from the wonderful Chinon's of the Loire Valley, France. Not a fruit bomb, just a lovely, well balanced pour with minerals and freshness to make you, and your food, sing.
New!!! RED TAIL RIDGE WINERY, Finger Lakes Region. PINOT NOIR. You're eyes don't deceive. This is local pinot, with all the espressiveness that enchants the world with this varietal. A brand new mom & pop winery, driven by a seasoned winemaker & Cornell University oenology professor, is turning out amazing wine for such a young enterprise. AND, this winery has made a strong commitment to our neighborhood - they donated the wine that we drank at the Raise The Roof Benefit concert at The Music hall of Williamsburg!
